KSC (Karnala-Sai-Chirner New Town) is a large-scale urban development project by the Mumbai Metropolitan Region Development Authority (MMRDA) designed to ease congestion in the existing Mumbai area and will include areas influenced by the Mumbai Trans Harbour Link (MTHL) and the new Navi Mumbai Airport.  The project aims to catalyse real estate growth by attracting buyers who seek proximity to nature and recreational opportunities, while the sanctuary's status as an Important Bird Area will guide development to ensure it remains a sustainable green lung for the region.
